If you reside in New York, and you have a legal issue that needs the intervention of a lawyer, then there’s an easy way out. Like other New Yorkers, you can find an experienced attorney in your community to handle your legal problems through the Lawyer Referral and Information Service also known as the LRIS. A service of the New York State Bar, the LRIS has commenced an online service at aimed at helping people to easily access experienced and competent lawyers nearby.


New Yorkers, can expect to be matched with competent and experienced lawyers reviewed by the New York State Bar. Through the online portal, residents have easy access to experienced and competent lawyers, while attorneys can easily scale their legal services to more people in the community at an affordable cost. The procedure of accessing lawyers online through the portal is straightforward. One fills their information on a questionnaire, which is then reviewed by the New York State Bar staff. Based on the information, the person is matched with a lawyer near their location. The referrals are free but one incurs a fee of at least $35 for a 30 minute consultation. Thereafter, the person can decide to retain the services of a lawyer or not.
